Balrog the Boxer is a collaboration built on an illustration by Marco Furtado, translating his 2D character into full 3D. The piece pays tribute to Balrog, one of the iconic fighters from the classic Street Fighter series.

3D Breakdown

A look behind the scenes at how the character was built, from the modeling and sculpting of the figure to the materials and compositing that brought the final piece together. Translating a 2D illustration into three dimensions means deciding what the drawing never had to show, the depth of a shoulder, the weight of a glove, the way light lands on skin. These frames trace that process, layer by layer.
